Illegal Audio is a 2x JUNO-nominated production and songwriting powerhouse specializing in artist development and crafting distinctive sonic identities. Founded by Marc Koecher (producer, songwriter, mixer, engineer, and multi-instrumentalist) and Lexie Jay (songwriter, producer, vocal director, multi-instrumentalist, and lyricist), the duo has rapidly emerged as a force in the Canadian music scene.

The studio is custom built, designed and constructed by Marc Koecher. Tailored to accommodate a creative and high-fidelity workflow. The control room and monitoring system follow a balanced non-environment design to allow for a clear, accurate, and detailed critical listening room. Housing many custom pieces of equipment built to his particular sonic preferences. From all-tube EQs and Limiters, spanning a variety of preamp topologies, to discrete solid-state dynamics and tonal shaping processors. The recording chain begins with a variety of dynamic, ribbon, and condenser microphones. Again including many custom units with hand-built ribbon motors and condenser capsules. Recording mediums include high-resolution digital capture as well as analog multitrack and master tape machines. The control room supports a large tracking space that houses a collection of his instruments and amplifiers. From pianos (baby grand and treated upright), a Hammon organ and Leslie, analogsynthesizers, various reed organs, and many others from Wurlitzer, Fender, Gibson, Farfisa,Hohner, etc.
